Robert has over fourteen years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. As the co-founder of GenBridge Capital, he envisioned an independent private equity firm armed with a leading e-commerce retail ecosystem that leverages data to empower the next generation of consumer champions.
Prior to founding GenBridge Capital in 2016, he was the Head of Investment and Strategy at the JD Group in Beijing. From 2013 to 2016, he built in-house investment operations for JD and oversaw the expansion of JD’s broader ecosystem through strategic investments.
Prior to joining JD, Robert was a Principal and one of the earliest members of Capital Today in Shanghai. Between 2006 and 2013, he was involved in a wide variety of successful investments in e-commerce and tech. On top of that, Robert was responsible for executing Capital Today’s successful investment in JD in 2007. During that time, he first worked with JD Group’s founder, and was instrumental in managing and supporting the growth of the business.
Victor has over eleven years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. At GenBridge, he develops the investment thesis, leads deals, and offers portfolio support. He also built our data-driven, institutionalized investment process.
Prior to co-founding GenBridge Capital in 2016, he was the Deputy General Manager of Investment and Strategy at the JD Group in Beijing. From 2014 to 2016, he worked with both Robert Chang (Founder and Managing Director of GenBridge Capital) and JD Group’s founder on the development of JD Group’s long-term strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining JD, from 2011 to 2014, Victor was a founding member of China International Capital Corporation’s (“CICC”) Alpha Fund, where he focused on originating and executing investments in consumer business with an e-commerce angle.
Xiao Wan is the Executive Director of the firm’s Investment Team and has over ten years of experience in consumer sectors. Prior to joining GenBridge in 2017, Mr. Wan was a founding member of Hillhouse Capital’s Consumer Venture team where he was instrumental in designing, sourcing, and executing Hillhouse’s investment strategies in beauty, pet, food, beverage and other consumer products.
Prior to Hillhouse, Mr. Wan was a Senior Brand Manager at Proctor & Gamble China from 2010 to 2014. In this role, he created top selling SKUs in the market, including the iconic brand “Always” which received global recognition.
Mr. Wan has a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from Renmin University.
Mr. Haoda Wang is Vice President of GenBridge and has over six years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Mr. Wang was an analyst at Shining Capital, a private equity firm based in Beijing. There, he managed the investments for the family of Mr. Niu Gensheng, the founder of Mengniu Diary and a pioneer investor in consumer products.
At Shining Capital, Mr. Wang played a critical role in consumer and IT service investments. He was also responsible for the firm’s public market investments in FMCG and E-commerce companies.
Mr. Wang graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.
Mrs. Wenjun Li is Director of the Valuation Creation Team and has over twenty years of professional consulting and in-house management experience. Prior to joining GenBridge in 2019, Mrs. Li worked for JD.com as Strategy Director from 2017 to 2019 where she played a critical role in key strategic initiatives implemented by the firm.
Before JD.com, Mrs. Li was Director at Roland Berger LP and earlier an Associate Partner at IBM Strategy & Transformation BG. In these roles, she advised international and domestic Chinese clients on growth strategy, business model improvement, operation excellency, supply chain and omni-channel optimization, digitalization and organization capability enhancements.
Mrs. Li has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Harbin Institute of Technology and an MBA from Leeds University in UK.
Mr. Andy Bao is Vice President of the Value Creation Team and has over ten years of investment and finance experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Mr. Bao was an Investment Manager at Alibaba Strategic Investment focusing on consumer and media platform sectors. Earlier at Alibaba, Mr. Bao was an Operation Specialist for the Tmall platform and a Business Development Manager for international co-operation. Prior to Alibaba, Mr. Bao was an Assistant Manager at PwC Advisory and an auditor at Ernst & Young in Shanghai.
Mr. Bao has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and an MBA Degree from Johnson Graduate School of Cornell University.
Lance Li heads post-investment corporate growth and innovation at GenBridge Capital. In addition, he leads coordination of partnerships between invested companies and JD Group.
Lance has more than 6 years of investment and industry experience in the consumer sector. He previously worked in the Investment and Strategy department at JD Group from 2015-2018, where he took part in several large-scale investment and integration projects. He also led JD Group’s strategic innovation partnerships with Tencent and the Yonghui Supermarket franchise.
From 2018-2019, Lance served as the VP of Corporate Development at Goodbaby International, where he was instrumental in the execution of WeChat mini-programs for membership in more than 6,000 stores.
Prior to this, Lance was the 8th employee of LinkedIn China where he was responsible for user growth. Within 2 years, he increased LinkedIn China’s user base by 800%.
Lance graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in Finance.
Ms. Yang Wang is Finance Director of GenBridge and has over 13 years of experience in finance. Prior to joining the firm in 2017, she worked for over ten years in the Assurance Department at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Beijing and New York, with her last position in the role of Senior Manager. During this time, Ms. Wang provided financial assurance services to various asset management clients, including private equity funds, mutual funds and venture capital funds.
Ms. Wang graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a master’s degree in Economics from Renmin University.
