Robert Chang

Robert has near twenty years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. As the founder of GenBridge Capital, he envisioned an independent private equity firm armed with a leading e-commerce retail ecosystem that leverages data to empower the next generation of consumer champions.

Prior to founding GenBridge Capital in 2016, he was the Head of Investment and Strategy at the JD Group in Beijing. From 2013 to 2016, he built in-house investment operations for JD and oversaw the expansion of JD’s broader ecosystem through strategic investments.

Prior to joining JD, Robert was a Principal and one of the earliest members of Capital Today in Shanghai. Between 2006 and 2013, he was involved in a wide variety of successful investments in e-commerce and tech. On top of that, Robert was responsible for executing Capital Today’s successful investment in JD in 2007. During that time, he first worked with JD Group’s founder, and was instrumental in managing and supporting the growth of the business.

Victor has over twelve years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. At GenBridge, he develops the investment thesis, leads deals, and offers portfolio support. He also built our data-driven, institutionalized investment process.

Prior to co-founding GenBridge Capital in 2016, he was the Deputy General Manager of Investment and Strategy at the JD Group in Beijing. From 2014 to 2016, he worked with both Robert Chang (Founder and Managing Director of GenBridge Capital) and JD Group’s founder on the development of JD Group’s long-term strategic initiatives.

Prior to joining JD, from 2011 to 2014, Victor was a founding member of China International Capital Corporation’s (“CICC”) Alpha Fund, where he focused on originating and executing investments in consumer business with an e-commerce angle.

George Wan

George Wan

George Wan is the Partner of the firm’s Investment Team and has over ten years of experience in consumer sectors. Prior to joining GenBridge in 2017, Mr. Wan was a founding member of Hillhouse Capital’s Consumer Venture team.

Prior to Hillhouse, Mr. Wan was a Senior Brand Manager at Proctor & Gamble China from 2010 to 2014. In this role, he created top selling SKUs in the market, including the iconic brand “Always” which received global recognition.

Mr. Wan has a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from Renmin University.

Andy Bao

Mr. Andy Bao is Managing Director of the Value Creation Team and Investor Relations. He has over ten years of investment and finance experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Mr. Bao was an Investment Manager at Alibaba Strategic Investment focusing on consumer and media platform sectors. Earlier at Alibaba, Mr. Bao was an Operation Specialist for the Tmall platform and a Business Development Manager for international co-operation. Prior to Alibaba, Mr. Bao was an Assistant Manager at PwC Advisory and an auditor at Ernst & Young in Shanghai.

Mr. Bao has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and an MBA Degree from Johnson Graduate School of Cornell University.

Bruce Yang is the Head of Research & Value Creation team, with over ten years of experience in research, strategy, and investment.

Before joining Genbridge, Bruce served as the Head of Strategy at JD Logistics, where he was responsible for logistics strategic planning, strategy execution, and the MA integration of Deppon Express. Prior to JD Logistics, Bruce worked in various departments at JD Group, including the Strategic Investment Department, Private Brands, JD Cloud & AI, and Intelligent Customer Service, where he was involved in strategic planning and investment mergers and acquisitions. He has accumulated extensive research and investment experience in Tech, Retail, and Logistics. Before joining JD, Bruce served as the Investment Director at Gobi Partners.

Bruce Yang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from the University of International Relations and is also a graduate of the Hillhouse Value Investing Institute.

Ms. Chenxi Luo serves as Executive Director at GenBridge, focused on the consumer brand sector, and has over seven years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2017, Ms. Luo worked at K2VC.

Ms. Luo graduated from the University of International Business and Economics with a bachelor’s degree in Management.

Mr. Danny Zheng serves as Vice President at GenBridge, focused on the consumer brand and retail sector, and has over six years of consumer-focused China private equity experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, Mr. Zheng worked at HOPU Investment.

Mr. Zheng has a bachelor’s degree in Management from University of Science and Technology of China and a master’s degree in Management from Tsinghua University.

Tojiro Kataya

Tojiro Kataya joined GenBridge Capital in 2019. He is primarily responsible for industry and corporate research. He has endeavored to expand the fund and portfolios’ comprehension of various consumer sectors through the production of knowledge. His research mainly focuses on the consumer industries of China and Japan, adopting a comparative perspective to continually scrutinize how outstanding companies navigate economic cycles through innovation.

To date, he has completed dozens of in-depth studies on many corporate and industry cases. His research has contributed to investment decisions, value creation, public relation, and  industry exchange.  His research has been continuously influencing entrepreneurs, executives, and investors in the consumer industries of China and Japan.

Tojiro Kataya hold a Master of Arts in East Asian Studies from Duke University and a Bachelor of Economics from Doshisha University in Japan. He began his internship at GenBridge Capital in 2018 while pursuing his master’s degree. His research interest during his student years was about circulation of popular music and cover songs phenomenon in East Asia.

Ms. Xu Bu serves as Finance Controller at GenBridge and has over 11 years of experience in the finance industry.

Prior to joining the firm in 2021, Ms. Bu spent ten years at PwC in Beijing. During this time, she provided financial assurance services to various asset management clients, including government-guided funds, FOF, private equity funds, buyout funds and venture capital funds.

Ms. Bu is a Certified Public Accountant. She graduated with a BA in Management from the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics and holds a MSc in Economics from the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC).

Iris Liu

Mrs. Iris Liu is Legal Counsel for GenBridge. She has over ten years of experience specializing in Corporate M&A and private equity / venture capital practice.

Mrs. Liu joined GenBridge in 2018. Prior to this, she worked as Associate in Clifford Chance and at DLA Piper. She has been admitted to practice in the State of New York since 2011 and in the Peoples Republic of China in 2013.

Mrs. Liu graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Law degree, and holds a Master of Law degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.

Vianna Wang

Ms. Vianna Wang is Associate Director at GenBridge Capital. Prior to joining GenBridge in 2019, Ms. Wang was a Senior Associate at PwC Assurance in Beijing. During her time at PwC, she provided financial assurance and consulting services to private equity and venture capital funds.

Ms. Wang graduated from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a Master’s Degree in Engineering Business Management, and holds a Bachelor of Accounting from Hong Kong Baptist University.
